Oizys, whose name means pain, or woe, was the unfathered daughter of Nyx, winged goddess of the Night. The twin of Momus, god of Mockery, Oiyzs is the female personification of pain.

"And again the goddess murky Nyx, though she lay with none, bare Momos and painful Oizys." - Theogony 214-215

Oizys' siblings are: Cer, Thanatos, Hypnos, Oneiros, Momus, Moros, Nemesis, Apate, Philotes, Geras, Eris, as well as the three Fates: Clotho, Laechisis, Atropos.
