Nynaeve al'Meara is one of the main characters in The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, often distinguished by her "dark, waist-length wrist-thick" braid which she has the habit of tugging in anger. She was first introduced as the Wisdom of Emond's Field, of the Two Rivers, in the western most corner of Andor. What she used to call 'listening to the wind,' a talent each Wisdom is suppsoed to possess, actually turned out to be a manifestation of her ability to channel the female half of the True Source, called saidar (she is said to have the most strength in the Power as has been seen in over a thousand years). She left Emond's Field with the intent of rescuing four young Two Rivers folk who had been "taken" away by Moiraine, an Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah. They were Egwene al'Vere, Mat Cauthon, Perrin Aybarra, and Rand al'Thor. After catching up with them, Nynaeve herself is caught in the weavings of the Wheel, and experiences countless adventures, including falling in love with Moiraine's Warder, al'Lan Mandragoran.
