NuGrape is a great
American soft drink, first made in 1921 by a company in
Atlanta,
Georgia. It lasted
nationally through the 60's, where it dwindled down to
regional distribution (mostly in the
Southeast and in
Texas). In the
Memphis area it's still distributed by the
Delta Beverage Company (they also bring us
Pepsi products).
The thing that sets NuGrape apart from other grape-flavored soft drinks is its taste. Strong and sweet and not very naturally fruity, it goes better with ice cream (in the float sense) than any of its competitors. This is the crack of grape-flavored soft drinks.
