Novial is a constructed language written in the 1920s by Otto Jespersen. It was intended to improve on Esperanto and Ido, which preceded it, by using a strict latin alphabet, and dropping things like number agreement and case marking (mostly). It mostly faded into obscurity after WWII, but is currently enjoying a minor revival and revision effort on the internet.
