The
Northeast Conference,
NEC, is a
NCAA Div. I conference. It was founded in
1981 when it was the basketball-only
ECAC Metro Conference. It grew and in
1988 it became the
NEC. The members of this conference now compete in 21 sports. All the
football programs in this conference compete at the
I-AA level.
