My Nokia 6210 mobile phone has a game on it called "Opposite". The game is almost identical to Othello or Reversi.

The only game on offer is for you to play against the phone - there is no two player option, such as there is in Nokia Snake. You always make the first move, and play 'black'. The computer player appears to have no randomness to it. If you play the same game every time, so will it.

The starting position is always the straight formation as shown in Chris' reversi writeup.

The phone has four levels at which it can play, but I have noticed that there is something very wrong with it. Level 1 is easy to beat, but so is level 4. Level 3 is a little harder and I don't think I've beaten level 2 yet. Is it just me, or did the programmers somehow get the levels in a mixed-up order?

I would be interested to know whether your 6210 behaves the same way as mine. As a little test, here's a sequence which beats the computer on level 4 in just 12 moves - does it work for you as well? In each position I have indicated where the next move should be using a captial W or B, but have not yet flipped the opponent's pieces:

omegas says "Nokia 7110 has the Opposite game too. I tried the sequence you describe in your writeup but my phone did not play like yours on any level...". Thanks omegas! :o)
