High-achieving public school in the Midlands of England; the "Newcastle" referred to is not the much more worthy Newcastle-upon-Tyne but Newcastle-Under-Lyme, a bijou town not far from Stoke-on-Trent.

The school has done well in the past, coming second (behind Manchester Grammar) in an Independent League Table of Grammar Schools in 1998; in reality, it probably ranks towards the lower end of the table of the top 20 schools in the country, and of its 1000ish pupils, sends around 15 people to Oxford or Cambridge every year. Last year, it did relatively poorly in its 'A' Level results, finishing around 200th nationally.
