Mrs. Thingummy was the
workhouse nurse who assisted in
Oliver Twist's birth. She had a particular affection for
the
contents of a small green bottle she kept in her shirt pocket. She claimed to have thirteen children, all except two of which died, and those two also in the workhouse.
Being a very minor character, that's all Dickens bothered to say about her.
