"Minty fresh" is not always a good thing....
One year at Pennsic War (yes, I'm in the SCA...), I was working a night shift at Chirurgeon's Point (the first aid station). Some people brought a (maybe) 19 year old girl in who was barely this side of comatose. Turns out she had fasted for three days (heaven knows why)and had broken her fast with Creme de Menthe mixed with anhydrous alcohol. For those of you who have never heard of this, anhydrous alcohol means alcohol with no (or practically no) water content - chemically pure alcohol. Say this stuff is 98% alcohol, 2% water - that would make it, oh, 196 proof...
Needless to say this girl was pretty far gone on our "alcohol intoxication" scale. And of course she immediately began to eject all the remaining Creme de Menthe cocktail all over our aid station. Afer the ambulance finally showed up to take her to the ER, we wandered around the tent sniffing things:
"Uh, Gabriel, your stethoscope smells minty fresh - might want to wash that..."
