Born November 20 1963, Coloane Island, Macau, Ming-Na Wen is hailed as being one of the first of a new generation of Chinese-American actresses to attain significant mainstream recognition.

A graduate of CMU, her first TV appearance was as "The Royal Trumpeter" on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood in 1985. She held a role on As the World Turns from 1988 to 1991. She currently (2000) appears as Dr. Jing-Mei "Deb" Chen on ER, and has appeared in many films, including The Joy Luck Club, Rain Without Thunder, and 12 Bucks. She has also lent her voice to animated works Mulan, HBO's Spawn series, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
