A company which makes and distributes appliances appropriately named Microfridges, consisting of a small refrigerator welded to a small microwave oven, to college students. The appliances tend to be relatively low quality, and are fairly primitive. For example, on my Microfridge, the microwave oven is controlled not with a cool membrane keypad and digital display, but with a dial. That's right, I have to turn it to the approximate time I want the microwave to be on, approximating the seconds, and then hoping for the best. It is a very grueling experience for making any foodstuff more complicated than hot water.

Incidentally, you could buy a new refrigerator and microwave for less than the cost of a rental over about two years, plus you don't have to worry about paying for damages. The disadvantage, of course, is that you have to cart the whole mess away at the end of every year, and you can't split the cost with your roommate as painlessly.
