With his win at the French Grand Prix, he has now equaled the 45 year old record of five F1 World Championship titles set by the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio. The title is one of the quickest earned, with 6 races yet to go in the 17 race season. Nigel Mansell was also able to secure the title with 6 races to go, but the season was only 16 races in length when he did so.

Schumi will be remembered in racing history for at the very least this feat, but never in as much regard as other F1 greats such as Fangio, Mansell, and Mario Andretti. This stems from both his aggressive driving style, as well as from his sometimes bad treatment of teammates (i.e. Eddie Irvine and Rubens Barichello).
