The approximate date of the beginning of the May 1968 student rebellion in Paris. More precisely, the day that the dean of the Nanterre campus of the University of Paris closed the college (where Jean Baudrillard happened to be on the faculty), after the Enrages, a situationist student group, began calling for educational reforms and organizing meetings that criticized their studies and the school, and the whole idea of school.

The Enrages were inspired in part by Return of the Durutti Column, as well as many texts written by the Situationist International.

In short, May 2, 1968 was the beginning of a very interesting time.
