The Maximals are a race of
transforming
robots from the
planet Cybertron on the television show "
Beast Wars." ("
Beasties" in
Canada, because they weren't allowed to use the word "
war" in the title) The Maximals are
descendants of the
Autobots from the 1980's TV show
Transformers. The Maximals battle the
Predacons who are descendants of the
Decepticons.
On Beast Wars, a group of Maximals (led by Optimus Primal) crash onto prehistoric Earth while chasing a group of outlaw Predacons led by Megatron (Not the original Megatron, but power-hungry Predacon who took his name)
After most of the inhabitants of Cybertron are relieved of their sparks by Megatron, Optimus Primal and his Maximals battle Megatron's new army of Vehicons.
