Marker

A pen-like object filled with colored ink and possessing a large felt tip. Depending on the type, the tip may be shaped such to allow narrow strokes, wide strokes, or both. Common types of markers include:

• Coloring markers, such as those made by Crayola. These frequently are designed to be easy to wash off of things other than paper and come in both fine-tip and wide-tip varieties.
• Laundry markers, the only sort that's specifically designed with indelible ink. Usually only available in in the fine-tip variety.
• Highlighters, which are optimised for making broad strokes over text. Broad-tip ones do a better job, but fine-tip ones are easier to handle.

The soldier who forms the pilot of a wheeling column, or marks the direction of an alignment.

An attachment to a sewing machine for marking a line on the fabric by creasing it.
