Daughter of Eleanor of Aquitaine and King Louis VII of France. She is best known as a patroness of Courtly Love and the growing troubadour movement. Among the writers of her court were Chretien de Troyes, who credits her with furnishing him with the material for his romance Lancelot, and Andreas Capellanus, whose book The Art of Courtly Love set the rules for what we consider romantic chivalry and courtly love.
