A problem that afflicts certain models of Palm PDAs, most notably the Palm V series. These devices use a capacitive digitizer and due to the metal case, temperature changes, humidity, etc... taps will often start to register about an inch away from where you actually touch the screen.

In some cases this makes it impossible to recalibrate the screen. You simply can't pull down the menu to select that option. A hard reset will let you recalibrate it, but as soon as you HotSync the old parameters will be restored and the Palm will once again be unusable.

Utilities such as DigiFix have been written to compensate for a randomly varying digitizer by automagically recalibrating the screen.
