The MH-53J Pave Low III is the USAF's largest, most powerful helicopter. It was designed for long-range infiltration and the resupply of special operations forces in day, night, or adverse weather. For this purpose, it is equipped with terrain-avoidance radar, forward-looking infrared sensors, and an inertial guidance system with GPS. The MH-53M Pave Low IV is a J-model modified with the IDAS/MATT (Interactive Defense Avionics System/Multi-mission Advanced Tactical Terminal), providing nearly real-time updates of the battle around it.
