M-x dunnet (or Meta-x dunnet) is a command that will start the text based adventure game dunnet. dunnet was created by Ron Schnell of MIT and is written in emacs-lisp. Version 1.0 was released in 1992 and the present version, 2.0, in 1993. The game includes computer hacking, chemistry, mazes, dungeons and you have to be both  patient and clever to finish with a high score.

dunnet can easily be found and downloaded under GNU licensing on the Internet. If you get stuck, you can always read the code for hints... When I played it in full - a long time ago -,  I mailed Ron for a hint, and he assured me that he gets quite a few of those requests...but he kindly helped me out.

The game starts out like this:

Dead end
You are at a dead end of a dirt road. The road goes to the east.
In the distance you can see that it will eventually fork off. The
trees here are very tall royal palms, and they are spaced equidistant
from each other.
There is a shovel here.
