Puritan of the seventeenth century, and a source of information about the English Civil War and interregnum. A committed Puritan and Parliamentarian, she was highly critical of King Charles I and, following Charles' execution, Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell. She wrote the 'Memoirs of Colonel John Hutchinson', which he then edited.
Typical quote: "{King Charles I} had nothing of faith or truth, justice or generosity, in him. He was the most obstinate person in his self-will that ever was, and bent upon being an absolute, uncontrollable sovereign"

Quote taken from 'The Memoirs of Colonel John Hutchinson', written by Lucy Hutchinson, edited by John Hutchinson
