Look Pedal

A kind of pedal for road bikes that require special shoes, and named after the company that came up with them. They probably have a patent. The shoes have a very stiff sole and a funny looking plastic cleat on the bottom that make them almost impossible to walk in.

Before using them it is imperative that you learn to fall down without hurting yourself, or you really will when you fall down attached to the bicycle. And you will. Trust me.

A brand of bicycle pedal produced by the Look company, which also produces shoes, bicycle frames, forks, seat posts, and other cycling related equipment, as well as equipment for other sports.

The Look pedal was among the first, if not the first, to offer a large cleat and platform. This lessens foot fatigue and enhances power transfer, thus Look pedals are used by most road racers. The alternative is Shimano's SPD type pedal and cleat. However, Shimano has seen the light, and their new road pedals feature a large platform as well. Their MTB pedals still use the SPD cleat, however they are inferior to Time pedals, and will probably change as well.
