This partial list of Chandra Levy's last trip on the internet was released two days ago by the DC police department. Some of the sites and the particular search parameters Levy was using are being witheld in hopes that they may potentially futher the investigation. The cached activity all took place in a 3-hour session on the morning of May 1st. It comprises the last known movement of Ms. Levy, all meticulously time stamped by her PC.

This list is the reason I wrote A Day for Chandra. People seem to be split about 50/50 on it. Perhaps it's morbid. She was a smart girl, and pretty. I wanted her to have a happy ending, unlikely as it is.

I looked at this list, and all I could think was how mundane it was, how it only became sinister when you knew whose list it was, and on what day. What does your last 3 hours of web browsing look like?

She was searching for something - places, items, movement. You don't go to 6 different search engines and 3 different mapping sites if you immediately find what you're looking for. I get the impression, from my admittedly distant and media filtered standpoint, that she had been looking for something for a long time, and never finding it.

I hope whatever traces left on her machine help the police catch the son-of-a-bitch that did this.
