The Lilac Festival is a large community celebration held every May in Rochester, NY. Part of the purpose of the festival is to give people an excuse to go to Highland Park and see the beauty in the dozens of varieties of lilacs that are usually in bloom during the festival.
In addition to the lilacs, the festival is a venue for various artists and vendors to display their wares. The festival features different music groups playing on many stages, including the Highland Bowl. The festival also features a parade and booths from community organizations.
