Leigh Nash was born
Leigh Bingham in New Braunfels, Texas. She grew up singing
Patsy Cline songs in Texas dance halls. A 13-year-old Leigh met then 16-year-old
Matt Slocum in 1989 at a youth
summer camp. Leigh and Matt founded the band
Sixpence None the Richer. In 1996, Leigh married
PFR drummer Mark Nash.
Leigh is one of those people with an extremely distinctive voice. No one else sounds like her; she's got a light, airy, almost ethereal sound. She's also a thoughtful songwriter, although Matt seems to write most of the band's songs. She performed at Lilith Fair. Leigh recently recorded a solo for the soundtrack to Bounce, on which Sixpence also has a song.
