As a follower of the writings of David Eddings I'd always wondered how he had managed to write so many believable strong female characters when so many male authors had failed before. Polgara, Sephrenia and Ehlana, to name a few, always managed to control their fate without having to resort to the hardness and bitchiness some authors feel female characters in charge need to have.
Well this puzzle was answered in the mid-90s when it was officially revealed on the jacket of Belgarath the Sorcerer that Mr Eddings previous books had been co-authored by Leigh Eddings, his wife.
Since then Belgarath the Sorcerer, Polgara the Sorceress, The Rivan Codex, Regina's Song and The Redemption of Althus have been released under the joint names of David and Leigh Eddings.
