The Leadville Trail 100 is an Ultra-marathon that is held in August in Leadville, Colorado. About four hundred runners run 100 miles at elevations ranging from high 9000 to 12,600ft. The race takes up to 30 hours and usually at least half of the entrants drop out because of dehydration, hypothermia or hypoxia. Acute Mountain Sickness is also a problem.

This also referrs to a similar race held the week before, where mountain bike riders ride a similar course in under 12 hours.

ultra-runners are an insane breed who are usually reaching that mid-life crisis age.
