The Land Warrior program is one of the advanced infantryman projects the Army is using to research next-generation weapons, sensors, and communications technology.

The system centers on the next generation infantry weapon, with an integrated gunsight camera, laser rangefinder, and a smart-grenade launcher under the rifle barrel in the manner of the M203 on the M16A1.

The soldier has a heads-up display that shows not only the weapon's viewpoint but also info on his team around him. This is tied into a GPS tracker system that provides constant map-oriented tactical data.

It is all a part of intelligent weapons and the soldier of the future.
