Λαμεδων

A king of Sicyon, a descendant of Aegialeus (Table 22). Coronus was his father and Corax his brother. Corax died childless and Epopeus the Thessalian succeeded him as king of Sicyon. Epopeus was mortally wounded in the fight which he had to undertake against Nycteus on behalf of ANTIOPE, and when he died Lamedon succeeded him. Lamedon was the last in the direct line of Aegialeus at Sicyon. He gave his daughter Zeuxippe in marriage to SICYON, whom he had called in to help in his struggle with the Achaeans. He himself married an Athenian girl, Pheno, a daughter of Clytius, which explains why at a later date IANISCUS, an Athenian who was a descendant of Clytius, reigned over Sicyon.
