A drug used on
King Mob in
Grant Morrison's "
Invisibles". Key 17 causes the user to perceive written words as if they were the actual objects they describe:
King Mob is shown several scraps of paper with the word "finger" on them, and is convinced his own fingers have been
severed. He uses Key 17 to his own advantage later on,
stopping an assailant by showing him a "
World's Greatest Dad" mug (the assailant, of course, sees the
World's Greatest Dad and becomes very
emotional).
It is suggested at http://www.barbelith.com/bomb/ that Key 17 is '
inspired' by the
Philip K. Dick novel,
Time Out of Joint.
