Keep It Beautiful was the
slogan that used to be on the license plates in
Ontario.
I don't remember the year exactly, but I must have been around 8 or 9 (because my dad still drove
The Beast then), license plates began to say something else.
Perhaps the
government knew something that we didn't. Thinking to today's situation, with
the province ignoring
environmental concerns, it would be hypocritical of them to ask that of the
citizens.
Its interesting to think back and
remember that they
discontinued the use of the slogan around the time that
acid rain was beginning to pose a
threat to trees and lakes, especially in
Northern Ontario which was where they took the cover pictures for their free road maps.
Pardon me for thinking like a
conspiracy theorist, but I think they knew it'd be a good move in the long term to change the slogan to
Yours to Discover as there is nothing beautiful about the way the land is treated here anymore.
