It is imagined by some that Capitalism is a giant

Rampaging the countryside, stomping villagers,

Eating cattle whole, tossing houses to the sea.

Or, perhaps, a system vicious, a great grinder

Pressing human ambition into mere competition.

Capitalism is indeed terrible, do not mistake me.

But mark that human methods prefer to be imagined

Powerful as a ten-foot brute, oiled and perfect

Like a never-missing machine. The more that I live,

The more that I think that this is not so. All of our practices

Are full of accident and folly, a mouse riding a unicycle,

Spinning plates on a stick on its head, Evil Knievel

Approaching the gorge, weaving in and out towards

Destinations unknown.

Life, friends, is terrible. We must not say so.

There are worse things than Capitalism, or maybe

There are things that Capitalism is lieutenant to.

They castrated a man on Europe’s doorstep

And posted the footage onto social media, because

They know that they can. As far as the eye can see,

It is scams, and lies, and distractions, and agendas.

Surely, some revelation must be at hand.

Meantimes, we will stumble onwards through this great bliss,

Hoping not to wake any ogres slumbering.

A few years ago, a reporter, and I don't remember who, asked Republican pollster Frank Luntz. what the Republican Party stands for?  Luntz, who is more honest than most appratchiks, took a couple stabs and admitted,  "I can't tell you the party stands for anything."  It was an honest answer. This same reporter began asking other prominent Republicans the same question and no one could give him an answer until he ran to a lower level state official who said, "We stand for owning the Libs and pissing off the lamestream media."

In other words, The Republican Party stands for nothing. Lincoln would be so proud.

But the thing is, he was telling the truth.  I look at the GOP today and i see the same thing.  The Republican Party stands for only one thing:  hatred. Hatred of me.

I know what you're saying, as a cis-gendered white male I sit atop the American social food chain.  But it doesn't matter. I'm not in the in crowd. I don't vote Republican.

But it's true. Republican voters don't listen to the 'Lamestream Media". They listen to Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson and an array of other right wing commentators whose purpose has never been to inform, but to anger, and to be honest to end American Constitutional Democracy. They still promote the lie that Donald Trump did not attempt to overthrow the election on January 6, 2021. They believe it and want to believe it, It's hard to believe your hero has feet of sand, as cley in entirely too firm. They put more faith in a man who has rarely tells the truth about anything, because it simply does not feel good to admit their guy is a charlatan and they are dupes. They would rather end democracy than share this country peacefully with people like me,

I know it's hard to believe, but consider the contempt conservatives have treated people on the left with for years. When you filibuster every Judicial nominee Barak Obama made until Democrats ended the filibuster.  Then they ended the filibuster to get in Supreme Court nominees who would and did end RoeVsWade.   In fact, they stole a nomination from Obama then denied one to Joe Biden rewriting the rules in two directions twice in order to pack the court.  and Roe is gone.

They are packing the legislatures with people who argue the 2020 election was stolen, a blatant lie In fact, many of the men who cowered in fear have censured members of their own party who insisted on the Truth about January 6.  No, the truth is hatred is their only value.  They hate me, and want me subjugated.

That isn't happening. I would rather be jailed than surrender. Lots of Americans are starting to awake to the reality that things are not normal in any way.  That today the choice is simple. Good versus Evil.  There literally is no other choice, no other debate, no equivalence. It's Sauron or Gandalf

Question is, where do you stand?
