Juana I, also known as
Joan I,
Countess of Champagne and
Queen of Navarre from 1274 - 1305. Juana was born in either 1271 or 1273 on 24 January, in
Bar-sur-Seine,
France, to
Enrique I,
King of Navarre (also known as
Henri III of Champagne) and
Blanche Capet (daughter of
Robert I, Count of Artois). She married
Philip IV,
King of France on
August 16,
1284, when Philip was 17.
Juana and Philip had seven children:
There isn't much written about this Queen of Navarre. She was a patroness of the arts and founded the College of Navarre. She died in childbirth on April 2, 1305.
