Full name Jon Philip Theodore. A drummer who has played for such bands as Golden, H.I.M and dub band De Facto, Jon Theodore currently plays drums for trend-bucking prog-rockers The Mars Volta, alongside guitarist Omar Rodriguez, vocalist Cedric Bixler, keyboardist Isaiah Ikey Owens and bassist Juan Alderete, with whom he forms a very tight rhythm section. Jon plays drums on The Mars Volta's Tremulant EP as well as their album De-Loused in the Comatorium.

Jon once studied Voodoo drumming in Haiti, which earned him the nickname "Voodoo Master" in H.I.M. Jon's style of playing is extremely rapid yet very controlled, not unlike a machine gun, and he provides a disciplined contrast to Omar's wild guitar joyrides which characterize The Mars Volta. Jon's talents shine particularly on the track "Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of)", a highlight and personal favourite from De-Loused in the Comatorium. Jon's style of drumming also makes maximum use of the toms, which are often neglected by modern-day drummers in favour of concentrating on the bass and snare drums and cymbals. Jon Theodore is one of my favourite drummers, along with Danny Carey of Tool and Travis Barker of Blink 182/The Transplants
