Jon Corzine (D-NJ) (1941-) is a Democratic Senator from New Jersey. He was elected in 2000 following a hugely successful campaign which solidified his reputation in the minds of the voters in New Jersey. In his political career, Corzine has focused mostly on the rights of young people, with a special focus on education. Corzine also sponsors legislation dealing with finance and senior citizens.

Corzine was born on January 1, 1941 in Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1969. He then spent six years in the Marine Corps Reserve. He received his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1973. After his stint in the Marine Corps, Corzine began working for Goldman Sachs. He advanced quite rapidly up their corporate ladder, and eventually became CEO and chairman.

With that kind of financial experience, it should come as no surprise that Corzine has served on a number of financially oriented committees, including the Joint Economic Committee and the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.
