John Napier Turner was born in England on June 7, 1929. He was Canadian Prime Minister for the summer of 1984, representing the Liberal party. His short lived tenure was a result of the populace becoming tired of his predecessor, Pierre Elliott Trudeau. Turner was defeated soundly by the charismatic Brian Mulroney. (Later, a similar fate would befall Mulroney's successor, Kim Campbell.)
