After the English civil war, in 1660,
Bunyan was suspected of having
fought on the anti-Anglican side,
and was ordered to stop preaching.
He refused, and was sent to jail
on several occations, where he
continued preaching to fellow
prisoners, and started to write.
In 1672, on his release, Bunyan was
chosen minister of the community
at Bedford, and a barn was used as
a makeshift church.
Bunyan died August 31, in 1688.
