An American ballet company. Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino founded the Joffrey Ballet in 1956. In 1995 Arpino, still the Artistic Director, moved it to Chicago, where it is now called the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago (JBC). It began as an ensemble of six dancers touring, performing works by Joffrey. It now has a repertoire of well over 200 ballets. Joffrey's Astarte was the only ballet ever to appear on the cover of Time magazine.
