So there was a lunar eclipse last night? I hadn't given it much thought. I eventually went outside around midnight to see what all the fuss was about, and saw this full moon with a shadow on it that made it look vaguely like a crescent moon. No big deal; I'd obviously missed Nature's fireworks. I was told that maybe if I'd gone outside an hour or so earlier, it would have been more impressive. What I saw, really, was just a plain old full moon.

A few hours later, I'm startled by light. I look out the window and see an extremely bright moon in the clear, clear sky. Oh. The dim sight I'd seen during the eclipse wasn't a plain full moon. Maybe I saw something then, if only a darkened moon.

Maybe I'll catch the next one. When's that?
