Janeane Garofalo was born on September 28, 1964 in Newton, New Jersey to Joan and Carmine Garofalo, who are now divorced. She attended college at the Providence College in Rhode Island, and after this she moved to Boston, then Houston to pursue her stand-up career. She joined the cast of "The Ben Stiller Show" in 1992 and "Saturday Night Live" in 1994. She is 5'1, has acted in numerous films since her earlier days, and is terrific with dead-pan wit.

She has dated the likes of Craig Bierko, Mitch Rouse, Bob Odenkirk and Ben Stiller. She and Ben Stiller wrote a book together called "Feel This Book." She's been called a "Gen-X" comedian, if you prefer to categorize people. She also took a role in the movie "Sweethearts" instead of the role she was offered in "Scream" as Gail Weathers, which Courtney Cox ended up getting.

An amusing quote:
"I guess I just prefer to see the dark side of things. The glass is always half-empty. And cracked. And I just cut my lip on it. And chipped a tooth."
