MA, Boston-based acoustic/folk-punk musician. Generally known for his caustic and intellectually trying lyrics, as well as for his truthful take on the world. He is offten compared to Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and Michael Stipe. Has one studio album out, Life Underwater, and often plays at Club Passim in Harvard Square.

A Boston Herald reporter once wrote an article about catching James' show, writing that "hearing the young slash-folkie James O'Brien was like having cocktails with an urbane, sophisticated couple and their enraged, deliquent teenaged son." He probably meant that as an insult.

James took it on as good press. That, essentially, is James.
