It's Its are a wonderful ice cream treat, invented in San Francicso in 1928 by George Whitney at his historic Playland at the Beach consisting of a delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies and dipped into dark chocolate coating. I have never see this treat outside of the Bay Area, and in fact it is said that its existence has been guarded tenaciously by the natives. I can still remember my first one from a little store near Hacienda Bridge over the Russian River as if it were yesterday. Rice-a-roni might already have the motto "A San Francisco treat", but the locals know that an It's It is the best confection from the Golden State. Don't miss it when you visit.
