Iron Wolf is a stand up roller coaster at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. Built April 28th, 1990 by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), it was the first B&M stand up coaster ever built. Riders stand four across allowing 28 riders per train. Where Iron Wolf differs from many other stand up coasters is the feeling of some of the turn/drops. At least three times during the ride the coaster takes a surprise jerk in a different direction or plunges through a quick, unexpected drop. Overall, this may not stand as a record holder in any major category but it definitely has thrills for any coaster rider. The following is further statistics for Iron Wolf:

  • Height: 100’
  • Drop: 90’
  • Top Speed: 55 mph
  • Length: 2900’
  • Duration: 2:00
  • Inversions: 2
