An on-going competition for computer artists using
raytracing software at www.irtc.org.
It has seperate competitions for stills and animations. While most of the still images are fantastic works of art, most of the animations could use a little work (with the notable exeception of Neil Alexander's animations.)
Although not required, most entrants use the POV-Ray raytracer.
