The International Transport Workers' Federation or ITF is a federation of 604 transport trade unions in 137 countries, representing around 5 million workers, one of a number of similar global union federations. The Federation was founded in 1896 in London by a number of European union leaders representing dock workers and merchant seamen keen to organise internationally in order to act against strike breakers. Since those days it has expanded its reach and now organises itself into the follwing sections;
