An organization founded for the sake of computer game developers. The IGDA has the following mission statement:

The International Game Developers Association is a non-profit membership organization that advocates globally on issues related to digital game creation. The IGDA's mission is to strengthen the international game development community and effect change to benefit that community.

The IGDA is built around its chapters, SIGs, and committees. There are currently 80 local chapters of the IGDA around the world at this time, from Toronto to Karachi, three different committees, and a handful of special interest groups, the details of all of which you shall be spared. The forums on the IGDA website also provide the usual means of communication between members, and are also open to anyone who wants a forum account.

There are also a number of advocacy groups in the IGDA. These groups include student outreach, business and legal, and quality of life, among others.
