Non-electronic binary punchcard filing system, consisting of thick cards with a pattern of holes on the outside edges. To file something, simply cut a groove (with scissors or special tool) from the edge of the card to the hole, forming a channel. To sort cards, manually insert a long needle or specialized comb through the holes and pull loose cards away, placing the grooved cards behind the non-loose ones. Last produced in the 1970's, but still to be seen here and there -- superseded almost immediately when 8-bit computers became cheap.
