A person that, usually for political or economic reasons, decides to emigrate from their country to live in yours. More often than not, off the boat immigrants bring with them the customs and world view of their homeland. Unfortunately, at least in America, most immigrants tend to earn minnimum wage and live in the ghetto. Eventually, immigrants may become citizens of their new country, and also learn the native language.
