An ice cream parlor is a restaurant that serves all those wonderful ice cream treats we all love: milkshakes, banana splits, sundaes, rootbeer floats, egg creams, and so forth. The ice cream is usually served in big thick glass bowls, and the shakes and parfaits come in tall narrow glasses with an extra-long spoon to dig way down to get that last bit of hot fudge up from the bottom. Unfortunately, ice cream parlors are quickly being replaced by franchise ice cream shops such as Baskin-Robbins, Carvel, and Coldstone's.
