Ianiscus

Ιανισκος

1. According to some traditions a son of Asclepius and therefore the brother of Machaon and Podalirius. He was a native of Thessaly from the area of the Perrhebes.
   


2. There was another Ianiscus who was descended from the Athenian Clytius. The latter had a daughter called Pheno, whom he gave in marriage to Lamedon, the king of Sicyon. Later, when ADRASTUS, one of Lamedon's successors, abdicated, Ianiscus, who came from Attica, was invited to become king. When he died he was succeeded by PHAESTUS.
