A bulletin board system run by the student computer association at the U of Iowa. Back in the day, it was on par with IRC as a way to communicate with ppl all over the globe. User base seems to have declined significantly with the explosive growth of "The Web". Still a great place to hang out, since most lusers from places like AOL have never heard of telnet.
